Leadership Patterns of Volleyball Coaches in Jordan and their relationships with Crisis Management as Viewed by Volleyball Players.

Abstract

This study aims at exploring leadership patterns of volleyball coaches in Jordan and their relationships with crisis management as viewed by volleyball players. A descriptive methodology was chosen. The sample of the study consisted of 80 players from the first division who were registered in the Jordanian Federation of Volleyball for the year 2019, and they were chosen intentionally. To achieve the purposes of this study, a questionnaire was designed to measure the leadership patterns which consisted of 28 items distributed on four dimensions (readiness and prevention, detection of warning signs, restoration of activity, containment of damages).

The findings of the study showed that the democratic pattern was the least used pattern by Volleyball coaches in Jordan, immediately followed by the dictatorship pattern, while the flexible model was the least employed pattern by volleyball coaches in Jordan. Moreover, the results of the study showed that the crisis management of volleyball coaches came with a medium degree and on all fields of study except for the readiness to struggle, where this field came with an average of 3.701)) . Finally, the results revealed that there were significant differences among   leadership patterns of volleyball coaches according to the variables of educational qualification, years of experience, and player position. Likewise, there was a separate significant correlation between the democratic pattern, the dictatorship pattern, and the crisis management of volleyball coaches in Jordan from the viewpoint of players.

The researchers recommend activating the pattern of democratic leadership behavior among volleyball coaches by preparing workshops and training courses in the field of leadership.
